CorEdge Networks, the leading provider of MicroTCA building blocks, is committed to developing board level solutions for MicroTCA platforms. As an executive member of the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG), CorEdge Networks has a long history of development and delivery of MicroTCA/ATCA solutions and working closely with other members to ensure interoperability with their AMC modules.
CorEdge Networks introduced the industrys first functional MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH) and Power Module (PM). The initial working revision of the MCH was demonstrated in June of 2005 at Supercomm. Since that time, CorEdge has continued to build upon its leadership position by adding more capabilities and features to the MCH. A family of clock and fabric modules tailored for specific applications, mount to the MCH as daughter cards. By integrating these on the MCH, valuable platform space is retained for critical processing and I/O functions.
CorEdge Networks was also the first company to introduce an intelligent MicroTCA Power Module. The PM provides redundant -48VDC or -12VDC inputs and supplies up to 400 watts of 12VDC and +3.3VDC power to the system. The Enhanced Module Management Controller (EMMC) of the PM, along with the MicroTCA Carrier Management Controller (MCMC) of the MCH, intelligently distributes the power to each AMC bay.

Another board level first for CorEdge Networks has been the introduction of a programmable line card capable of supporting 10Gbps (and now 20Gbps) transfer rates. The RL-20, based on a Xilinx FPGA, provides unsurpassed flexibility that enables a multitude of line card, processor card, or endpoint options. Combined with CorEdge Networks’ patent-pending BitStream technology, various 20Gbps line or NPU card solutions are possible.
In addition to MicroTCA infrastructure products and AMCs, CorEdge Networks has also developed board level solutions for the ATCA form factor. Its ATCA Carrier Card employs a cutaway architecture to support up to four full-height AMCs. In addition, CorEdge offers a Shelf Management Module that has been extensively tested for interoperability.
